High School & In-School Programs
The programs and activities offered are built in conjunction with the PA State Standards for Environment and Ecology.
Along with our regular programming, we also offer custom lessons and activities suited to your group’s needs. Our focus is to help create positive relationships with the environment, resulting in better stewardship of our surroundings. We look forward to working with you!
Please keep in mind that programs continue in sun, light rain or snow; please prepare and dress accordingly.
Envirothon
The Erie County Envirothon is an annual competition hosted by the Erie County Conservation District. The competition challenges high school teams in the following categories:
- Soils and Land Use
- Aquatic Ecology
- Forestry
- Wildlife
- Current Environmental Issues
In-School Programs
Available Grades K-12
- Farm to Fork — Discover how farms relate to the food on our table. Younger students will enjoy the felt board and story; older students will be challenged by a choose-your-own-path cooperative group activity.
- EnviroScape — This hands-on EnviroScape model of a watershed allows students to witness the effects of pollution in a watershed. Students will discuss types of pollution and explore possible solutions.
- Ins and Outs of Water — Students will explore where their school water originates, test its quality, and explore where it goes after it disappears down the drain. (Suggested for Middle/High School students)
